Conversely, being from Pokot County, a county alleged to be aggressing its neighbour by violence, Hon Kamama holds a portfolio of chairmanship in a very critical committee that determines National Government decisions on National Security, he is certainly be susceptible to allegations of undue compromise, covert complicity, and partisanship to the unnecessary ongoing conflict that continues to retard Pastoral Northern Kenya.
Not to excerbate the conflict in Northern Kenya by perceptions or actions emanating from making appointment of a chairman from a conflict party community into such a committes was damage.

Certainly the appointing authority did not look at the sensitive ethnic background of Hon Kamama, but instead his political profile in Pokot County and his contributions to the the ballot win. However, the perceived cost of his appointment has been his involuntary stakes in the conflict smoldering in Pokot North, Pokot East, Baringo, Turkana South and Turkana East.
Kamama is a national figure expected to play national interests especially on ensuring national security is right in all corners of Kenya. Expected to be that kind of a leader, he has not been seen passionate and aggressive enough to use his committee to get politicians and the big fish behind the pastoral conflict, he has not been effectively combating pastoral crimes and conflict from Northern Kenya, a concern that has caused many to hold perceptions of probable complicity in the bloodletting and destruction predominantly mounted by Pokot on its immediate neighbours.
As a lesson learnt, the National Government must ensure institutions, commissions and other equivalent bodies with serious national duties and responsibilities are spearheaded by persons perceived non-partisan and who command the confidence of the subjects of such commissions. That way and collectively, the troubled counties and the country at large will make significant progress on important matters such as National Security.
In my own personal opinion, while the government continues with the operations against banditry in the areas lower Turkana and upper Baringo and Pokot, Hon Asman Kamama has two open options to help restore and support law and order in Northern Kenya; option one is to do the honorable thing of disqualifying himself and resigning as the chairman of the named National Assembly Committee on grounds of being not fit for given the circumstantial conflict of interest, the other option is, being a politician and highly unlikely to do heed the moral call of resigning, he should redeem himself of the perception amongst many of his complicity in the conflict in Northern Kenya.
Redeeming himself will be in the way of coming out strongly as the chair of the committee and fighting political kingpins supplying the synergy and impetus to the field elements perpetrating cattle rustling, banditry, raids etc. He should support the government security officers combating the bandits on the ground by declaring a war against the political motivators of the pastoral conflict in Northern Kenya, irrespective of his ethnic leaning.
In such a position I believe Kamama can bring security and peace to Kenyans living in Northern Kenya, than whip and complicate the ethno-political violence stagnating and detrimental to the people and for personal political mileage.
