After spending 6 months researching for the project and another 6 months writing its complete manuscript, now Spurling has begun building scenes in LEGO and photographing them, and is sharing the stories online as they are completed. After over two decades or reading and analysis on the subject, in summer of , Spurling released her latest history book Salvation: From Ancient Judaism to Christianity Without a Historical Jesus.

Elbe Spurling wrote and recorded two lo-fi home-recorded solo albums in and under her birth name, Brendan Powell Smith. Then in , she joined forces with Lila Tene as The Human Heads , releasing a single album that same year. A seamless series of accompanying music videos for the EP was released in early , and a full debut album in Part One of the two-part feature was edited in spring and eventually aired on San Francisco public access TV.

Editing of Part Two of the feature was completed by Spurling in , and the full feature was then made available online. Field oversaw a program in which, in the Christmas spirit, DVDs of Vendetta were mailed out free of charge to anyone who requested one through the official website. A special AI-upscaled 25th anniversary edition of Vendetta was made available on Youtube for Christmas In summer of , Spurling re-watched all 16 episodes of the mystery TV program Banacek, and immediately set about editing together a video that captured each instance of characters on the show saying the name of the main character, Banacek.

In Spurling created a party game in which she prepared hundreds of images of celebrities disguised using various filters, effects, and other tools. She hosted a party in which, attendees were divided into teams that would compete to be the firstn to successfully name the celebrity. For each celebrity, Spurling prepared three unique artistically distorted images of the celebrity, starting with a nearly-impossible-to-recognize image and getting progressively more recognizable.

Check it out if you like what you've seen so far. I thought it was great on many levels humor and knowledge primarily.

Just goes to show how confusing the New Testsment is without all the filler added. Of course it also shows beyond a doubt that many Christians actually do pick and choose what teachings of Jesus to follow and not to follow. The author makes use of Lego's to tell the story of Jesus in a unique and entertaining way. Please do not misunderstand me, the Old Testament is a little gory in truth.

Back to this title, I found it to be much more to a child's taste. The creation using Lego's to create the scenes will truly hold a child's interest,as well as the telling of the story of Jesus. Well done! A uniquely powerful graphic novel and one both young and old alike will enjoy. Well written with beautiful graphics. A great read and one that will encourage your youngsters to learn the Bible.

Received for an honest review from the publisher. Thomas Brennan. I thought it was a really good book because there was a lot of rules in there about sinning and rules that I will try to follow now that I have read this book I think this book would be good for people that are christian and like adventure and i liked how Jesus is warning us for what will happen to us like Jesus will come down and kill the bad people that are bad and how he showed that he was resurrected and how he died for our sins on the cross god said to the people that you cant enter the the kingdom of god if you sin but everybody sins and god said OK i let you come into the kingdom of heaven if you kill somebody that has never sinned and there was some people that thought that they where perfect but they werent the only person that was perfect was jesus so he died for our sins so we would live a good life.

Jenni Frencham. The author even lists the Bible passages for each section. This makes linear reading of this book difficult. Perhaps it would have been better to simply follow one of they synoptic gospels and add other stories where there is deviation in one of the other gospels, but not to repeat stories. And this is NOT a book for children. The illustration of the "eunuchs who make themselves eunuchs" should be proof enough of that.

Tanna Shelley. My son and I read this together. It was such a great way to get him interested in the Bible and a fun way to learn. The pictures were so awesome and detailed. We are such huge Lego fans in this family that this book was just a great addition to our collection. Although this might not be for all kids. There is definitely a lot of adult content in it but I felt my son was old enough and could understand the situations.

He had a lot of great questions and it started a great dialogue between us about the Bible and the situations in it. We are currently rereading the Old Testament because he love them so much. So I'll just leave it at that. Debbie Wakefield. I was hoping this would be an entertaining and easy way to learn about the Bible. While it was easy to get through, I don't think I retained much of it.

The information didn't sink in with the Lego pictures. The Legos were helpful when some scenes were violent or otherwise graphic because they were more comical than gory with Lego people. I'd recommend this to children looking to learn more about the New Testament. It's a cool idea. I read the Brick Bible, the New Testament. Even though this is a graphic novel, it is NOT a "Graphic" novel.

As the stories of the Bible are all told via Lego TM art, much of the blood, sweat, etc. The chapter and verse citations are listed on each page, as well. Overall an enjoyable read. The life and crucifixion of Jesus done in legos. Bizarre doesn't begin to describe this one. There is also Lego recreations of various early Christian histories and those are also As a former Catholic and current atheist, I never noticed before that Jesus, for all his preaching about throwing the first stone, is kind of arrogant.

And a bit of an asshole. Probably an unpopular opinion that will get me a lot of flack, but I call it like I see it. Also, why were all the disciples named Simon and Peter? That's some poor story construction if you ask me. We had this book at our summer camp, and some of the boys took it back to their bunks to read it at night and during rest hour.

And these are boys who don't read the Bible. They came over and asked us about some of the passages. It was amazing! Pretty amazing. I grew up going to church and only 10 percent of the Bible is covered in Sunday school. There is so much in there that is really fascinating that most people, religious or not, are just not that exposed to. I thought this was a situation I could do something about.

The project started as a website. It was 10 years ago now that I did my first illustration of Bible stories with Lego bricks. The website was popular in its own right and Skyhorse Publishing contacted me to do the entire Bible in book form. By that time I had hundreds and hundreds of stories on the website and it was mainly a process of organizing all that material into book form and creating over new illustrations for the New Testament version.

The books are in graphic novel format, so I feel like they are aimed at the same age range of people actually picking up the Bible and reading it on their own or with parental supervision, such as older children, teens and adults Smith has started a series of picture books aimed at young children. There are very different challenges, but it is all fun, even if sometimes there is a tricky build.
