Unexpectedly, that meant a tilt towards theory. I mostly do theoretical work close to empirical studies, whether fieldwork or archival; I try to think in the presence of the data, so to speak. So here it is. It may or may not be my Best Games or Greatest Hits, but it is the best collection of my work. I hope it will be useful to anyone interested in how ideas develop, how social science is built, and what directions we might take intellectual work in the near future.

More formally, Raewyn has been an advisor to United Nations initiatives on gender equality and peacemaking. It has not had a broad impact on Australian public life, but has helped to shape thinking in some areas. Her research and theorising has been widely used in research and teaching internationally Google Scholar in counts about 98 citations of her publications.

Her writings have circulated in nineteen languages: see Translations of Raewyn's work. Raewyn is a transsexual woman, making a formal transition late in life. Most of her earlier work was published under the gender-neutral name R. Her writing about transsexuality can be found in this blog. She is continuing with intellectual and political work.
